ONLINE RETAILERS vs BRICK & MOTAR STORES

With economic sales and manufacturing demand falling, solid trends for shopping online are proving themselves everyday. The threat of online retailing is boarder less and it makes sense because we can go to any store try the clothing on make sure it fits and buy it cheaper on the internet more and more  especially our younger generations.

I see one heck of a movement in online retailing.

I recently went on a trip to Texas interested in purchasing some much needed clothing as well as foot ware.

Particularly Cowboy boots - they say it should fit like a glove snug lke a proper hand shake.  I tried on many pairs of boots and I found a pair of boots that fit very well. but is it was over my budget of $160.00.

The sales associate offered $20.00 of the retail price of $200.00, while contemplating the offer I saw the store was filled with 50% off red tags unfortunately the boots that fit were not qualified for this offer. :( sad face

So I took the offer on the condition the sales tax was included, the associate stopped the negotiation. I walked out shortly after. When I made it home back from Texas, I went online and found the exact same pair of boots online for $172.00. (not within my budget)

I thought about it what's $12.00 get this!

So I waited. I searched around some more and finally this last weekend I found an offer for 30% the boots and free shipping! So I finally placed my order and got the boots I wanted well below my budget of 160.00. I scored them for $132.97 shipping and tax included, shipped to my door. Why not what a deal as we all want a great deal.

This my friends means no brick and motar store is safe from online shopping or retailing in-fact the physical stores are more at risk and will need to be even more competitive than online retailers, because of the inventory factor, over head costs, location and so on. Their margins may need to be cut thinner or they will need to revamp the way they conduct business and doing this will put the physical stores back in the drivers seat it is really very simple. This will require a marketing strategy and I would be more than happy to share my Marketing Ideas with you.
